Former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. will face his malversation case like any other detainee, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said Tuesday, emphasizing there will be no exceptions despite their long-time friendship.

Remulla said he advised Revilla to surrender peacefully after the Sandiganbayan Third Division issued arrest warrants for him and six co-accused over a P92.8-million alleged ghost flood control project in Bulacan.

The secretary confirmed that detention facilities in Payatas, Camp Karingal in Quezon City, and Bicutan in Taguig have been recommended to ensure Revilla’s safety.

He noted that gang activity in jails requires extra precautions, and authorities will implement strict security measures during his detention and trial.

Remulla clarified that the PNP Custodial Center will not be used, as it is scheduled for demolition to make way for a new police headquarters.

Revilla surrendered Monday night, while five of his co-accused were arrested earlier by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the National Bureau of Investigation.

The DILG chief reiterated that the Sandiganbayan will decide the final detention arrangements and assured that the law will be applied equally to all suspects.
