Remolino, Burgos target SEA Games Triathlon slots after Cebu wins

Kim Andrew Remolino and Erika Nicole Burgos are aiming for spots in the national triathlon team for the 2025 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Thailand this December, fresh off their victories at the Sunrise Sprint Lapu-Lapu in Cebu.

Remolino, a silver and bronze medalist in the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games, clocked 1:10:03 to retain his men’s overall title in the 750m swim, 20km bike, and 5km run event. “I feel that my fitness level has improved, especially in bike because I controlled my pace better, so I’m happy with the win,” the Cebuano said.

Burgos, part of the gold medal-winning mixed relay team in 2023, ruled the women’s division with a time of 1:20:31 despite battling jetlag. “I wasn’t exactly feeling recovered… so I only did what I could,” said the 23-year-old, who also topped the 20–24 age group.

Matthew Hermosa (1:10:34) and Renz Corbin (1:11:41) finished second and third in the men’s race, while Eunice Caluya (1:22:37) and Nicole Marie del Rosario (1:27:23) completed the women’s podium.

The race also crowned several age-group champions, adding to the momentum for Remolino and Burgos as they prepare for SEA Games team selection.
