Executive Secretary Ralph Recto announced Monday that the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) will collaborate to upgrade sports infrastructure across the country.

The initiative aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s vision of nurturing world-class Filipino athletes and enhancing the nation’s competitiveness in international sports.

Recto said the partnership will focus on providing modern facilities, proper training spaces, and adequate support to help athletes develop their skills.

Key projects include the completion of the Ilocos Norte Sports Institute, featuring venues for gymnastics, badminton, bowling, and other disciplines.

The collaboration will also accelerate the transformation of the General Luna Convention Center in Siargao into a watersports academy, covering surfing, coastal rowing, dragon boat racing, and beach sprints.

Additional upgrades are planned for the Siargao Sports Complex, Zamboanga City Sports Complex, and Baguio’s Athletic Bowl, which will serve as regional training centers with modern amenities for multiple sports.

Recto noted that the improvements are expected to boost sports tourism, provide training opportunities for local athletes, and position the Philippines as a stronger contender in global competitions.
