MANILA – The accuracy rate of the Random Manual Audit (RMA) for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Elections (BPE) is at 99.9 percent, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Thursday.
Based on the Summary Report on Variance and Accuracy Rate released by the poll body, the 99.98683 accuracy rate is based on 21 out of the 21 total number of sample clustered precincts in the region.
The regional parliament political party has a 100% accuracy rate, with 12,006 election returns (ERs) read in the Automated Election System (AES) and the RMA.
For the sectoral group parliament members, it has the same results with 12,006 ERs checked in AES and RMA.
On the other hand, the accuracy rate of 99.99% was recorded for Parliament district representatives based on ERs examined through the AES and RMA.
Comelec Chairperson George Garcia is hoping that the people will give importance for the RMA in future elections.
“Hopefully, in our next elections when we have automated elections, we will give the same importance to our Random Manual Audit (RMA). We are not talking about technical matters here,” he said in statement.
“The question is simple: are the results of each precinct that were sent that led to our proclamation true and correct versus the manual counting of the ballots?” the poll body chief added.
The first BPE was held on Sept. 14, which recorded a voter turnout of 84.34 percent, or 2,018,478 voters participated in the polls, where they elected 80 parliament members.
The newly-elected members of the parliament are set to assume office on Oct. 30. They will be serving a five-year term until June 30, 2031.
