Rainy weather is expected to persist across various regions of the Philippines as the shear line, easterlies, and northeast monsoon continue to affect the country, the state weather bureau reported on Saturday.
In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms are likely over the Visayas, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte due to the shear line.
Meanwhile, the easterlies will bring similar weather conditions—cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms—over the Davao Region, Soccsksargen, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), the Zamboanga Peninsula, and Palawan.
The northeast monsoon is also expected to cause cloudy skies with rain over the Bicol Region, Cagayan Valley, and the provinces of Apayao, Aurora, Quezon, as well as the rest of the Mimaropa region.
PAGASA warned that moderate to heavy rainfall could lead to flash floods or landslides in the affected areas.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, while the rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough sea conditions are expected over Luzon and the Visayas. In contrast, Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds with slight to moderate seas.
Additionally, PAGASA raised a heat index alert, warning of “dangerous” levels in some areas. Dagupan City in Pangasinan may reach a heat index of 42°C, while Cotabato City in Maguindanao could hit 43°C.
