As millions of Filipinos visit cemeteries to honor their departed loved ones this Undas weekend, the weather bureau has advised the public to brace for rain showers brought by a low-pressure area (LPA) and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).

According to PAGASA, the LPA spotted 275 kilometers west of Coron, Palawan, early Saturday morning will continue to dump scattered rains over the province. The system remains embedded along the ITCZ, which is also affecting large portions of the Visayas, Mindanao, the Bicol Region, and the rest of Mimaropa, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms.

In northern Luzon, Cagayan will experience scattered rains due to the shearline, while Batanes will have light rains brought by the northeast monsoon. The rest of the country can expect localized thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon or evening.

PAGASA added that moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over Northern Luzon and the eastern parts of Central and Southern Luzon, while the rest of the archipelago will have calmer conditions with light to moderate winds and seas.

Meanwhile, a separate weather disturbance outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into a tropical depression. It was last seen 1,425 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 55 kph, moving westward at 15 kph.

While the system is not expected to directly affect the country yet, PAGASA continues to monitor its movement as the nation marks All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days under cloudy and occasionally rainy skies.
