Rachel Anne Daquis is set to open a new chapter in her storied PVL career, choosing continuity and purpose over comfort as she moves to ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles for the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference.

Fresh off the expiration of her contract with Farm Fresh, the 38-year-old outside spiker elected to remain under the Strong Group Athletics umbrella, but with a clear mission: help mold and elevate a rising, youthful roster hungry to take the next step.

For ZUS Coffee, the acquisition is less about star power and more about leadership, experience, and belief.

Daquis’ arrival also rekindles one of Philippine volleyball’s most recognizable partnerships. She will once again share the court with longtime teammate and closest friend Jovelyn Gonzaga, reviving the “GonzaQuis” tandem that once energized Army and later Cignal squads.

This time, however, their role goes beyond scoring runs and highlight plays. They are expected to serve as stabilizers and tone-setters for a team that has already shown flashes of championship potential.

ZUS Coffee enters the All-Filipino Conference with momentum after a breakthrough Reinforced Conference campaign that saw the Thunderbelles reach the finals for the first time, eventually settling for a silver finish against Petro Gazz. Rather than overhaul the roster, head coach Jerry Yee opted for targeted reinforcements, blending veteran savvy with a core that has already learned how to win big matches.

Alongside Daquis, the Thunderbelles bolstered their lineup with seasoned setter Chie Saet, while adding promising talents Cess Robles, Ren Peñafiel, and Karen Verdeflor to deepen rotation options. The mix complements a nucleus led by Best Setter awardee Clo Mondoñedo, middle blocker Thea Gagate, AC Miner, Riza Nogales, Chinnie Arroyo, and libero Alyssa Eroa.

For Daquis, the move represents another evolution in a career defined by adaptability and resilience. No longer just a focal scorer, she now steps into a mentor’s role, one that values court IQ, emotional composure, and championship habits as much as raw firepower.

Her presence is expected to accelerate the growth of younger players while providing ZUS Coffee with a steady hand in pressure situations.

The Thunderbelles begin their All-Filipino Conference campaign on February 3, facing Capital1 led by Bella Belen at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.

With Daquis in the fold and familiar chemistry back on display, ZUS Coffee enters the season not just as a finals hopeful, but as a team learning how to sustain success.
