Immanuel Quickley poured in 27 points and dished out 11 assists as the visiting Toronto Raptors defeated the Washington Wizards 134-125 on Saturday.
Brandon Ingram added 24 points and RJ Barrett contributed 21 points to help Toronto end a two-game losing streak. Jakob Poeltl recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Scottie Barnes added 18 points. The Raptors shot 71.4 percent in the second half and finished with 60 percent overall.
Will Riley paced Washington with 19 points. Bilal Coulibaly and Kyshawn George scored 14 points each, Tristan Vukcevic added 13, and Bub Carrington and Justin Champagnie chipped in 12 points apiece. The Wizards connected on 16 of 34 three-pointers but fell for the fourth consecutive game, shooting 53.4 percent overall.
Toronto trailed by 13 in the first half but clawed back to take the lead when Barrett’s layup made it 75-74 with 7:53 left in the third quarter. Ingram’s three-pointer extended the Raptors’ lead to six, and Poeltl finished the quarter with a layup, giving Toronto a 98-92 edge entering the fourth.
The Raptors opened the final quarter with baskets from Barnes and Quickley to take a double-digit lead. Barrett’s three-pointer increased the margin to 13. Jamal Shead capped the run with a triple at 3:40, putting Toronto ahead 129-113.
Washington had jumped to an early 33-20 lead, fueled by a 7-0 run finished by Anthony Gill’s hook shot. Ja’Kobe Walter’s three-pointer trimmed the deficit to eight entering the second quarter.
The Wizards hit their ninth three-pointer early in the second quarter, with Jamir Watkins extending the lead to 41-29. Toronto fought back with a three-point play from Sandro Mamukelashvili to cut the gap to 54-50. George and Gill helped Washington regain a nine-point cushion with 3:09 left in the half.
At halftime, Coulibaly’s mid-range jumper put Washington ahead 64-61. Ingram led all scorers with 13 points, while Coulibaly added 11 for the Wizards.
