Quezon Province strengthens mental health awareness, caregiver support through seminars

QUEZON – The Quezon Provincial Health Office participated in a series of seminars aimed at promoting mental health awareness, reducing stigma and strengthening support for caregivers as part of the observance of Mental Health Awareness Month.

The Mental Health Awareness and Caring for Carers seminars were held in Pagbilao on October 7 and Macalelon on October 8, 2026.

The activities focused on raising public awareness about mental health conditions and encouraging communities to address stigma and discrimination against individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

Participants discussed practical approaches to promoting understanding, acceptance and compassion toward people dealing with mental health concerns.

A key component of the seminars was the Caring for Carers initiative, which emphasized the emotional and psychological well-being of family members and individuals responsible for caring for people with mental health conditions.

The discussions highlighted the importance of recognizing the emotional needs of caregivers, who may experience stress, exhaustion and other challenges while providing continuous support to their loved ones.

The Provincial Health Office underscored that mental health care should extend beyond individuals experiencing mental health conditions to include the families and caregivers who support them.

The seminars also sought to encourage communities to create supportive environments where individuals and families feel comfortable discussing mental health concerns and seeking appropriate assistance.

Through these activities, the Quezon Provincial Health Office reinforced its commitment to promoting mental health awareness, reducing discrimination and strengthening community-based support for both individuals with mental health conditions and their caregivers.
