Tropical Storm Queenie is unlikely to directly affect the country’s weather, PAGASA said Friday.
As of 4 a.m., Queenie was 1,065 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 75 kph and gusts of up to 90 kph. It was moving northwestward at 20 kph. No tropical cyclone wind signal has been raised.
Queenie may strengthen into a typhoon by Sunday and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Sunday afternoon or early Monday.
Residents are urged to stay alert, monitor official PAGASA advisories, and prepare for sudden changes in weather. Those in coastal, flood-prone and landslide-prone areas should be ready to act immediately if conditions worsen or local authorities issue evacuation orders.
