QuadComm lifts contempt order on Villanueva

The House Quad Committee lifted the contempt order against former Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) chief Wilkins Villanueva on Tuesday.

The Quad Committee approved the lift after Abang Linkod Party-list Rep. Stephen Paduano accepted Villanueva’s request for reconsideration.

Villanueva assured that he would “fully cooperate and truthfully answer all questions from Quad Committee members.”

“I was the one who moved to cite ex-general Wilkins in contempt and I appreciate his gesture of seeking a reconsideration, unlike Colonel Grijaldo, who resorted to forum shopping,” Paduano said.

Police Col. Hector Grijaldo had been cited in contempt after failing to attend the hearings despite receiving subpoenas, and has since sought relief from the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, Villanueva had been cited in contempt due to his denial of involvement in the apparent warrantless arrest of Jed Pilapil Sy.
