Police arrested two men linked to a “basag-kotse” or car break-in incident in Barangay Kaligayahan, Novaliches, Quezon City, the Quezon City Police District reported Monday.
The suspects were apprehended in a follow-up operation conducted by Pasong Putik Police Station 16 under the supervision of PBGEN Randy Glenn Silvio.
Authorities identified the arrested individuals as alias “Regie,” 34, a resident of Pasong Tamo, and alias “Justin,” 29, a resident of Barangay Kaligayahan.
The incident occurred around 3:55 a.m. on Feb. 17 when the window of the complainant’s parked gray Toyota Vios was smashed in front of his residence.
Police said the suspects took a bag containing a Glock 9mm firearm and about ₱200,000 in cash before fleeing on a Yamaha NMAX motorcycle without a license plate.
The complainant reported the incident to police, prompting a hot pursuit operation that led to the identification of the suspects and their arrest at about 5 a.m. on Feb. 21 in Pasong Tamo, Quezon City.
Investigators later found that one of the suspects was a relative of the complainant and was allegedly the mastermind behind the crime. Recovered items included savings passbooks, identification cards, documents, a black leather wallet, and a black sling bag.
Police said theft charges have been filed against the suspects before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office, while authorities urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
