The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) recently concluded its second fashion week on June 4 at the PUP College of Communication Theater (Tanghalan ng Bayan).
PUP Icons, featuring and in collaboration with student-led creatives, fashion professionals, and Filipino designers showcasing their works, served as a platform for guests at this year’s PUP Fashion Week to experience the Filipinos’ creativity, diverse and ever-evolving fashion styles, and identity.
The setup accommodated 130 seating capacities for models and guests, including photographers, media, designers, and stylists.
Started on June 2, the runway highlighted traditional and old-fashioned styles, contemporary clothing, and the vision of Philippine fashion. Among the attendees were five designers who showcased their work on the first day, while approximately 16 designers were present on the second and final day of the event.
This year’s theme Fashion Week 2025: MAKINA – Riles ng Estilo, symbolizes the significant role of the makina (sewing machine) in the evolution of fashion, and Philippine railway systems in the journey of Filipinos towards progress and efficiency.
The concept seeks not only to unite generations and intersect different people through artistry, tradition, and identity but also to recognize each other’s love of art.
The fashion event, which is in its second year, was organized by PUP Icons, the university’s resident advertising and modeling group, who also walked the runway.
