The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), in partnership with the National Youth Commission (NYC), Philippine Life Saving, Department of Health (DOH), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and Bell-Kenz Pharma Inc., conducted a life-saving training program for athletes, para-athletes, coaches, and PSC employees at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium on October 29, 2026.
The activity was led by PSC Commissioner Walter Francis K. Torres, with messages delivered by Bell-Kenz Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Head Patrick Larraza, CGSRSC Commander Commodore Nelson Jay Timbang, and NYC Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer Usec. Joseph Francisco “Jeff” Ortega.
PSC Chairman John Patrick “Pato” C. Gregorio also attended the opening ceremony, which featured morning and afternoon training sessions.
Participants received practical instruction on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the proper use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), the Drowning Chain of Survival, and essential water safety protocols.
The initiative aims to equip athletes, para-athletes, coaches, and PSC personnel with the knowledge and skills needed to respond to emergencies and provide immediate assistance during life-threatening situations, particularly when lifeguards or first-aid responders are not readily available.
Through this collaborative effort, the PSC and its partner agencies continue to promote safety awareness and strengthen emergency preparedness within the Philippine sports community.
