The Philippine Statistics Authority said 6,597 senior citizens in Iloilo have been registered under the National ID system through house-to-house activities conducted from Oct. 1 to mid-December.
Iloilo Supervising Statistical Specialist Jerry Dolutan said the initiative focuses on elderly residents and persons with disabilities who are unable to visit fixed registration sites.
“PSA Iloilo is continuously implementing National ID mobile house-to-house registration activities across Iloilo to ensure that senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) who have difficulty visiting fixed registration centers are not left behind,” Dolutan said in an interview on Thursday.
He said the agency is intensifying its outreach to make sure more sectors understand the benefits of having a National ID.
PSA Iloilo currently operates six mobile teams for field registration and two teams stationed at registration centers in its office and at SM City Iloilo.
“Our mobile registration, which also includes the house-to-house registration, is ongoing until Dec. 22. But our registration centers at PSA Office and SM City Iloilo will continue until Dec. 29,” Dolutan said.
He said the office aims to process at least 280 registrants daily as the campaign continues.
Among those registered through the house-to-house effort was a 110-year-old resident of San Rafael town in Iloilo.
A registration team visited Jovita Aranga at her home in Barangay Ilongbukid on Dec. 12 to assist her enrollment.
“Having lived through generations marked by typewritten records and handwritten identification, Aranga’s registration symbolizes the transition to a secure, digital and unified National ID System,” Dolutan said.
