The Philippines Statistics Authority (PSA) said its National ID Hackathon to promote a deeper understanding of the capabilities and benefits of National ID authentication services in improving public service delivery was a success.
In a statement, the PSA said the event provided developers and digital transformation advocates with insights on how to incorporate their services with the National ID Authentication Services, thereby improving services such as social protection programs, financial inclusion, and other government and private transactions.
Representatives from various government agencies, local government units, and private institutions attended the event.
PSA undersecretary and national statistician Claire Dennis S. Mapa, PhD, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General, motivated participating institutions that have yet to join with the National ID to integrate with its authentication services, as this can simplify agency operations, all while guaranteeing the security and integrity of the services they offer.
Usec. Mapa said, “The National ID enables faster and more secure identity verification, reduces fraud, streamlines service delivery, and helps ensure that services reach the right people—especially those who need them most.”
The demonstration on the National ID eVerify also took place at the event, which was led by Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Undersecretary for e-Government David L. Almirol. This is a platform where participating parties can apply for integration.
“With eVerify, we ensure that identity authentication is fast, accurate, and fraud-resistant. This will streamline processes across agencies, reducing redundancy and enhancing service efficiency,” Usec. Almirol said.
From this date, government agencies have already integrated with the National ID authentication services, in particular the Credit Information Corporation and the Local Government Unit of Tublay, Benguet.
Asia United Bank, GCash, and Seabank Philippines are all benefiting from the said integration.
