The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is constructing the second phase of a new road to address traffic congestion in various Pili and Camarines Sur areas.
DPWH Regional Office 5 Director Virgilio C. Eduarte, in a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, said that the project dubbed Palestina-Yabu-Carolina Road is ongoing with a P125 million allocation from the 2024 General Appropriations Act.
This year’s project included continuing road concreting in two (2) locations with a combined length of 7.75 lane kilometers and slope protection structures. It also covered installing reflectorized pavement markings and solar street lights for the round-the-clock safety of road users.
“When completed, this road will serve as a faster alternative route for motorists traversing the busy roads, especially in the town proper,” said Director Eduarte.
The DPWH Camarines Sur 3rd District Engineering Office is implementing the road component, which is currently 19 percent completed and scheduled for completion by early 2025. The road project’s phase 1, costing P75.86 million, was completed in January 2024.
Meanwhile, Director Eduarte also reported the completion of a farm-to-market road, which now aids an agricultural area in Goa, Camarines Sur.
The completed project, costing P11.94 million, involved the construction of a 2-lane FMR linking Barangay Buyo and Barangay San Pedro. The DPWH Camarines Sur 4th District Engineering Office completed the project in December 2023.
