The MARINA Regional Office V (MRO5), led by Regional Director Atty. Maximo I. Baรฑares, Jr., in coordination with the Coast Guard District Bicol under Commodore Ivan E. Roldan and facilitated by Mr. Bernard Sial of Libon, conducted a relief operation today, 8 November 2024, at Sitio Malindoc, Zone 7, Libon, Albay. The drive aimed to support residents impacted by Typhoon “Kristine.”

Sixty-one households benefited from this initiative, including 45 in Sitio Malindoc and 16 in Isla Noahโ€”both areas heavily impacted by Typhoon Kristine. The relief packages contained essential items such as food, clean water, clothing, and hygiene supplies, crucial for helping families recover from the typhoonโ€™s effects.

This relief initiative was made possible through generous donations from various shipping companies and MARINA Regional Offices nationwide. This collective response within the maritime sector to deliver immediate aid to affected communities is a testament to the industry’s commitment to disaster relief.

The operation underscores MARINAโ€™s dedication to aiding Filipino families in crisis, with the maritime industry actively contributing to disaster relief and recovery, making the audience feel proud and supportive of the sector’s efforts.

The relief effort in Libon is part of MARINAโ€™s broader commitment to community service. This initiative, which goes beyond maritime governance, reinforces MARINAโ€™s mission to promote resilience, safety, and support in the regions it serves, particularly during times of hardship.

By reiterating this commitment, the audience will feel reassured and confident in MARINA’s ongoing efforts.
