PALO, Leyte — Police personnel assigned to strengthen security operations across Eastern Visayas received prayers and blessings during a send-off ceremony organized by the Police Regional Office 8 (PRO 8) on October 31, 2026, ahead of the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
Rev. Fr. Police Major Rey Ibañez, PRO 8 Regional Pastoral Officer, led the invocation and blessing of troops at the PRO 8 Grandstand in Camp Sec. Ruperto Kangleon, Campetic, Palo, Leyte.
The ceremony was attended by PRO 8 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, who oversaw the deployment of augmentation personnel to various Provincial Police Offices (PPOs) and the Tacloban City Police Office (TCPO).
The additional police personnel were assigned to reinforce security operations and help maintain peace and order during Undas 2026, when thousands of residents are expected to visit cemeteries and memorial parks to honor their departed loved ones.
According to PRO 8, the spiritual activity forms part of the Philippine National Police’s focused agenda on personnel morale and welfare, emphasizing the importance of faith, integrity, discipline, and commitment to public service.
The regional police office said the initiative aims to strengthen the moral and spiritual well-being of officers as they carry out their responsibilities in ensuring public safety.
It also highlighted the importance of professionalism, compassion, and accountability in police operations, particularly during major public observances that require heightened security measures.
Through the deployment and spiritual preparation of its personnel, PRO 8 reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a safe and peaceful Undas observance across Eastern Visayas.
The initiative supports the regional police office’s continuing campaign toward a “SAFE Eastern Visayas,” promoting public trust, responsible policing, and community cooperation.
