The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) has activated 251 personnel to ensure faster coordination and resource deployment as Super Typhoon Nando (international name: Ragasa) approaches.
PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Nestor Babagay Jr. said the force includes 182 members of the reactionary standby support unit and 69 search and rescue operatives. Unit commanders were also ordered to prepare logistics and equipment for typhoon operations.
Contingency measures are in place, including medical teams and relief supplies for PNP personnel.
“From preemptive evacuation to search and rescue, your PNP will exert every effort to minimize the impact of Nando on the lives of our fellow citizens,” Babagay said.
He also urged the public to stay prepared and follow advisories to avoid casualties.
