British pop singer Jessie J has announced that she has been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer on Wednesday, June 4 (Manila Time).

In a video posted on Instagram, the 37-year-old artist said the diagnosis came two months ago, shortly before the release of her single No Secrets in April.

She described the experience as difficult, but emphasized that the cancer was fortunately caught early.

“Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word early,” she said, noting that she had been in and out of tests for several weeks.

Jessie J shared that she will proceed with surgery after her scheduled performance at Capital’s Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, June 15.

“It’s a very dramatic way to get a boob job. I am going to disappear for a bit after Summertime Ball to have my surgery, and I will come back with massive tits and more music,” she told fans, keeping her trademark humor in check.

Known for being open about her personal struggles, Jessie J explained that she shared the diagnosis publicly to help process the news and to offer solidarity to others going through similar situations.

“I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me, with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories,” she said. “I’m an open book.”

The singer has also previously spoken about various health challenges she has faced throughout her life, including a heart condition, a teenage stroke, sudden hearing loss from Meniere’s disease in 2020, and more recently, being diagnosed with OCD and ADHD.
