BUTUAN CITY — Authorities conducted two anti-drug operations this week that resulted in the seizure of suspected shabu valued at more than Php 1.9 million, police officials reported Thursday.

In one operation on Wednesday, law enforcers implemented a search warrant in a village in the city, where they recovered around 180 grams of suspected illegal drugs with an estimated value exceeding Php 1.2 million.

The operation was carried out by personnel from the Butuan City Police Office and the Agusan del Norte Maritime Police, who targeted a suspected drug personality believed to be involved in illegal trade.

Police said the suspect, identified only by an alias, managed to evade arrest during the raid and remained at large as of the latest report.

Authorities noted that the individual is considered a high-value target and is expected to face charges for violating Republic Act 9165 once apprehended.

In a separate operation earlier in the week, a buy-bust activity led to the arrest of another priority suspect in a different part of the city.

Operatives confiscated approximately 100 grams of suspected shabu valued at about php 680,000 from the arrested individual, who was subsequently charged in court.

Police officials said follow-up investigations were ongoing to determine possible links of the suspects to wider drug networks, while urging the public to continue cooperating with authorities in reporting illegal activities.
