The Philippine National Police warned job seekers against illegal recruitment schemes after two people were arrested in Pasig City for allegedly offering overseas work without authority.
The PNP said the suspects, identified only by their aliases “Andeng” and “Angel,” were arrested by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group on June 24.
The entrapment operation was conducted inside a fast-food establishment in Barangay San Joaquin.
Investigators said the suspects allegedly recruited applicants as early as April 2026 for restaurant jobs in Armenia.
The applicants were allegedly promised a daily salary of 14 euros and a monthly food allowance of 200 euros, with deployment supposedly set within two months.
Police said the complainants had already paid a total of Php 183,930 for alleged airfare and processing fees before the suspects allegedly demanded another Php 31,740 each for faster deployment.
The complainants sought help from the CIDG after noticing irregularities, while verification with the Department of Migrant Workers showed that the suspects had no license or authority to recruit or deploy overseas workers.
The suspects face complaints for alleged violation of the Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act and estafa, while PNP chief Gen. Jose Nartatez urged the public to verify job offers with the DMW before paying fees or submitting documents.
