The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday announced heightened security measures ahead of Eid’l Fitr, as Muslim communities across the country prepare for the observance on March 21.

Police personnel were set to be deployed in strategic locations, including mosques, prayer grounds, and areas with large Muslim populations, to ensure public safety.

Authorities said coordination with local leaders was being strengthened to maintain order and prevent any untoward incidents during the celebrations.

The police chief said ensuring the safety of all Filipinos remains a top priority, with officers tasked to secure key sites and assist communities during Eid prayers.

Officials also put in place traffic and crowd management plans, particularly near major places of worship where large gatherings are expected.

Quick response teams and medical units were positioned on standby to address emergencies and respond swiftly to incidents.

Eid’l Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, a period of fasting and reflection, with the final day of fasting observed on March 20.

The celebration is traditionally observed through communal prayers, family gatherings, and charitable giving such as Zakat al-Fitr, allowing those in need to take part in the festivities.
