The Philippine National Police (PNP) will remain on full alert despite the conclusion of Iglesia ni Cristo’s (INC) “Rally for Transparency and a Better Democracy” on Monday night.
“The PNP remains on full alert. We urge everyone to continue observing safety protocols, stay vigilant, and promptly report any suspicious activities,” the PNP said in a statement.
PNP acting chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. placed the police force on high alert starting Friday afternoon (Nov. 14) ahead of the three-day rally, originally set for Nov. 16–18. Organizers ended the event early Monday, citing success in promoting justice, accountability, transparency, and peace amid alleged government corruption.
The PNP reported that over 600,000 attendees gathered at Rizal Park during the two-day event. “Despite the large turnout, the atmosphere remained calm, organized, and respectful,” it said.
Nartatez praised the deployed officers “for their professionalism, strict observance of maximum tolerance, and tireless dedication in safeguarding the public.”
In total, 16,000 police officers and support units were assigned to Rizal Park in Manila and the EDSA People Power Monument in Quezon City, where a separate rally by the United People’s Initiative also took place.
