The Philippine National Police rescued 23 children and arrested six suspects in separate operations against online sexual exploitation conducted from July 14 to 25.
The raids were carried out in Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Cebu, Negros Occidental, Davao del Sur and Misamis Occidental by the PNP Women and Children Protection Center and partner agencies.
Authorities also seized mobile phones, computers, storage devices and other digital evidence believed to be linked to the production and distribution of child sexual abuse materials.
Police said some of the rescued victims were infants, toddlers and other minors allegedly exploited by parents, relatives or other people responsible for their care.
Investigators said the suspects allegedly facilitated the creation and transmission of abusive materials in exchange for payments from offenders based abroad.
The operations stemmed from local and foreign intelligence referrals and involved the Department of Justice, Department of Social Welfare and Development, local police units, barangay officials and child protection groups.
Charges under Republic Act No. 11930 and other applicable laws were being prepared against the suspects. One case may also involve qualified trafficking in persons under Republic Act No. 9208, as amended.
The rescued children were placed under the care of social welfare authorities for medical assessment, psychosocial support, protective custody and long-term recovery services.
