The Philippine National Police (PNP) recorded eight cybercrime convictions and 144 referred cases involving various online offenses in October 2026 as authorities continued efforts to address cyber-related criminal activities.

According to the PNP, the eight convictions involved violations of laws governing professional regulation, online financial transactions, and certain regulated products, among other offenses.

The PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) also reported receiving 144 referred cases during the same period, with online libel accounting for the largest number of complaints.

Of the total, 34 cases involved online libel, followed by 25 estafa cases and 14 complaints involving both online libel and unjust vexation.

The figures highlighted the range of cyber-related complaints referred to authorities, particularly those involving online disputes, fraudulent transactions, and the misuse of digital platforms.

PNP Chief General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. urged the public to exercise caution when using digital platforms, particularly when conducting financial transactions or sharing personal information.

“Mas nagiging ligtas ang online community kapag alam ng bawat isa kung paano mag-ingat at kung saan hihingi ng tulong kung kinakailangan,” Nartatez said.

“We encourage everyone to use the internet responsibly, verify information before sharing, and report suspicious activities. The PNP is here to help, and we will continue working to make the online space safer for everyone,” he added.

Nartatez advised internet users to verify suspicious messages and offers, safeguard sensitive information, and promptly report suspected cybercrime incidents to the appropriate authorities.

The PNP said its continuing efforts against cybercrime include strengthening investigative capabilities, improving coordination among law enforcement units, and expanding public awareness campaigns.

These measures are aligned with the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO), which emphasizes intelligence-driven and responsive police action.

The police organization also reaffirmed its commitment to addressing emerging online threats as digital platforms become increasingly integrated into financial transactions, communication, and everyday activities.

The PNP encouraged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities in reporting suspected online offenses to help prevent further victimization.
