Police arrested the most wanted person in Region 8 during a manhunt operation in Cagayan de Oro City on July 5, the Philippine National Police said.

The suspect, identified only by the alias Totoy, was arrested along Ramon Chavez Street in Barangay 28.

The PNP said the 48-year-old driver was from Saint Bernard, Southern Leyte.

He was arrested by virtue of a warrant issued on Jan. 29, 2024, for multiple counts of rape under the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act No. 11648.

Police said no bail was recommended for the suspect’s cases.

The operation was carried out by personnel of the 2nd Southern Leyte Provincial Mobile Force Company.

After his arrest, the suspect was brought to Police Station 2 of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office for documentation and proper disposition before his turnover to the court of origin.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the arrest showed the police force’s resolve to pursue fugitives facing serious charges, adding that manhunt operations would continue to enforce court warrants and bring wanted persons before the courts.
