An alleged Php 8-million debt triggered the killing of vlogger Alicia “Mima Alicia” Lipata, according to Philippine National Police chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez.

Nartatez said investigators found that the attack stemmed from a personal dispute over money. He added that Lipata allegedly owed the amount, which later developed into a serious grudge.

Police identified and charged two suspected masterminds, described only as a businessman and the person’s partner.

The two remained at large, while authorities withheld their identities because of the pending criminal case.

Lipata, a known supporter of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., was shot outside her home in Caloocan City in the early hours of July 17.

Police arrested the suspected gunman and motorcycle driver in Mabalacat City, Pampanga, on July 23.

Investigators earlier said the two arrested suspects may have been hired to carry out the attack.

Nartatez said charges had already been filed against the alleged masterminds as police continued efforts to locate and arrest them.
