Police destroyed over Php 43.6 million worth of marijuana plants and related materials in a weeklong anti-drug drive across the Cordillera region from April 26 to May 2, 2026.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said a total of 18 eradication operations were conducted in identified marijuana cultivation sites in Benguet, Kalinga, and Mountain Province.
Authorities reported the destruction of 183,034 fully grown marijuana plants, 84,000 seedlings, and nearly 31,000 grams of dried leaves and fruiting tops.
Mountain Province accounted for the largest share of the operations, with an estimated value of Php 31.36 million, followed by Benguet at Php 10.71 million and Kalinga at Php 1.6 million.
Police said the coordinated efforts were part of continuing operations targeting illegal plantations in remote and upland areas of the region.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. commended field units involved in the operations, saying the campaign reflected sustained efforts to address illegal drugs at the community level.
He said the operations were aligned with the agency’s focus on intelligence-led policing and community-supported enforcement under its internal reform agenda.
Authorities said the anti-drug campaign will continue in coordination with local stakeholders as part of broader efforts to curb illegal cultivation in upland areas.
