The Philippine National Police (PNP) said it destroyed more than Php 11 million worth of marijuana plants during a weeklong series of anti-drug operations in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
Police units carried out 16 eradication operations from April 19 to 25, targeting suspected plantation sites in upland and remote areas.
Authorities said the operations led to the discovery and destruction of 18,520 fully grown marijuana plants and 61,470 grams of dried marijuana.
The seized and destroyed items were estimated to have a total standard drug value of about Php 11.08 million.
PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez said the operations reflected continued efforts to curb the supply of illegal drugs at the source.
We are going after the roots of the problem, and we will sustain this momentum,” he said.
