MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) intensified its campaign to protect children from online threats by conducting a cybersecurity awareness lecture for elementary pupils in Aringay, La Union.

The Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 1 (RACU 1), under the supervision of PCOL Greg Guerrero, conducted the activity at San Eugenio Elementary School on October 12, 2026, to educate young learners about the dangers of online exploitation and harmful digital content.

The lecture focused on Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC), Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM), and Nihilistic Violent Extremism (NVE).

Police personnel discussed ways to recognize suspicious online activities, practice responsible internet use, and avoid potentially harmful content circulating on digital platforms.

The initiative also encouraged pupils to think critically about information they encounter online and immediately report inappropriate or suspicious activities to parents, teachers, or other trusted adults.

PNP-ACG Acting Director PMGEN Andre Dizon emphasized that protecting children in the digital environment requires continuous education, guidance, and vigilance.

“Protecting children in the digital world requires awareness, guidance, and vigilance,” Dizon said.

He urged young internet users to develop safe online habits and seek assistance whenever they encounter suspicious or harmful content.

“We encourage young learners to think critically, practice safe online habits, and seek help from trusted adults whenever they encounter suspicious or harmful content,” he added.

Dizon stressed that cooperation among law enforcement agencies, educational institutions, parents, and communities is essential to safeguarding children against cybercrime and online exploitation.

“Through education and collective responsibility, we can help create a safer digital environment for everyone,” he said.

The awareness campaign forms part of the PNP-ACG’s efforts to strengthen cybersecurity education and promote responsible internet use among young Filipinos.

The police also reminded parents and guardians to monitor children’s online activities, maintain open communication about digital safety, and immediately report suspected online exploitation or cybercrime to the proper authorities.
