The Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Wednesday it is supporting the National Police Commission (Napolcom) in investigating a Manila police officer accused of sexually assaulting a woman while she was unconscious.

Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. met with the alleged victim and her husband on Tuesday at Camp Crame, Quezon City, as they expressed concerns over the progress of the case.

“The Philippine National Police… [extends] full cooperation to the National Police Commission in the administrative investigation related to the alleged rape case,” Nartatez said in a statement.

He added that authorities are taking “all necessary steps… to provide support to the victim and her family while maintaining the integrity of the investigation” and that the PNP is committed to upholding accountability and ethical conduct among its personnel.

The complaint was formally filed on Tuesday at Napolcom’s Quezon City office, with the victim identifying the accused as a patrolman assigned to the Manila Police District (MPD).

The incident reportedly occurred after the officer brought the woman, who gave her name as “Anna,” to a Manila motel on the morning of Dec. 4, 2025, following a night in which she lost consciousness at a Quezon City bar.

MPD spokesperson Maj. Philipp Ines confirmed the officer has been absent without leave and that a criminal complaint has been lodged against him, pending further investigation.
