Police arrested a regional most wanted person in Southern Leyte over multiple rape charges, the Philippine National Police said.
The suspect was identified only as a 73-year-old man from Cebu City.
He was arrested in Barangay Suba, Sogod, Southern Leyte.
The operation was carried out by personnel of the Cebu City Police Office, Sogod Municipal Police Station, and intelligence units in Southern Leyte.
Police said the arrest was based on a warrant issued by a Regional Trial Court in Cebu City.
The warrant covered multiple counts of alleged violation of the Anti-Rape Law of 1997.
No bail was recommended for the suspect’s temporary liberty.
The suspect was placed under the custody of the Sogod police pending the return of the warrant to the issuing court. PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez said the arrest formed part of sustained manhunt operations against wanted persons facing serious charges.
