As more Filipino women transform online platforms into thriving enterprises, PLDT Home is strengthening its commitment to support this growing wave of women-led businesses across the country. This Women’s Month, the company is expanding initiatives that combine stronger internet connectivity, artificial intelligence upskilling, and sustainability-driven programs to help women entrepreneurs scale their ventures and compete in the digital economy.
Across the Philippines, women are increasingly turning digital tools into engines for entrepreneurship. Data from the Philippine Commission on Women shows that women now own 66 percent of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and lead 62 percent of newly registered businesses.
These figures reflect the growing role of Filipinas not only as entrepreneurs, but also as economic drivers and community leaders.
PLDT Home sees connectivity as the backbone of this transformation. What initially began as support for home-based businesses during the pandemic has evolved into a broader initiative aimed at providing digital infrastructure that enables women to build efficient, competitive, and scalable enterprises online.
One of the most prominent examples of this effort is Madiskarte Moms PH (MMPH), a community powered by PLDT Home. What started as a small online support group has grown into a nationwide network of more than 225,000 women entrepreneurs, making it one of the largest communities of mompreneurs in the country.
The platform has become a space where women exchange ideas, gain access to learning opportunities, and strengthen their businesses while pursuing financial independence.
“Women are already shaping the country’s entrepreneurial landscape in powerful ways,” said Menardo “Butch” Jimenez Jr., PLDT Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer. “Our role is to ensure they have the digital infrastructure and future-ready capabilities to sustain and scale that impact. Connectivity today is more than access — it is an enabler of innovation, inclusion, and long-term growth.”
As the digital economy continues to evolve, PLDT Home is also deepening its investment in digital skills development, particularly in artificial intelligence.
Building on the success of last year’s Gemini Academy conducted in partnership with Google Philippines, the program will return this year for Madiskarte Moms PH with expanded discussions reflecting the rapid evolution of AI technologies.
The enhanced training program will equip women entrepreneurs with practical ways to integrate AI into their businesses. From improving digital marketing campaigns and generating smarter customer insights to streamlining operations, supporting product innovation, and simplifying accounting processes, AI tools are expected to help mompreneurs operate more efficiently and make data-driven decisions.
By embedding AI across multiple areas of business—from marketing and product development to operations and financial management—women entrepreneurs can strengthen the resilience and competitiveness of their enterprises in a fast-changing digital landscape.
PLDT Home is also highlighting the importance of sustainable entrepreneurship through the annual Gawad Madiskarte Awards. On March 28, the fourth edition of the awards will recognize outstanding mompreneurs who demonstrate innovation, resilience, and long-term business growth.
The awards celebrate women who are building enterprises that create lasting value—not only generating income for their families but also supporting local communities and contributing to broader economic development.
Through a combination of reliable connectivity, AI-driven learning programs, and platforms that recognize responsible business leadership, PLDT Home continues to expand an ecosystem designed to support women-led enterprises nationwide.
This Women’s Month, the company underscores a belief that empowering women entrepreneurs creates ripple effects far beyond individual success. Stronger women-led businesses help build more resilient families, more dynamic communities, and a more inclusive economy for the Philippines.
Women interested in becoming part of the growing network are encouraged to join Madiskarte Moms PH, a community where Filipina entrepreneurs connect, collaborate, and thrive.
