The country’s cage-free egg industry is taking a major step toward expansion with the launch of the Philippine Cage-Free Association (PCFA), the first industry group in the Philippines dedicated to supporting and developing cage-free egg production.
The association was officially introduced on August 26 at ILDEX Philippines 2026 during the session, “Launching the Philippine Cage-Free Association: Growing Demand, Growing Opportunities.”
PCFA brings together producers and industry stakeholders seeking to strengthen the local supply of cage-free eggs while improving technical capabilities, production practices and access to emerging markets.
The association was founded by Global Food Partners (GFP), Bounty Plus, Kingmerbi Corporation, Dominant Asia Livestock Genetics Inc. and Sandalan Poultry Farm, reflecting growing industry interest in developing a more coordinated cage-free egg sector.
As PCFA’s exclusive technical partner, GFP will provide members with training, practical production guidance and technical support based on its experience working with cage-free egg producers across Asia and other international markets.
The group’s launch comes as demand for cage-free eggs rises among hotels, restaurants, foodservice operators and other businesses in the Philippines.
With more companies looking for reliable cage-free egg suppliers, producers are also under increasing pressure to strengthen farm management practices, comply with recognized animal welfare standards and build stronger links with institutional buyers.
“As consumer expectations around animal welfare and food production continue to evolve in the Philippines, cage-free eggs represent an important opportunity for the local egg industry,” said Dino Diño, associate vice president for supply chain and demand planning of Bounty Plus Inc. and a founding member of PCFA.
“The Association will help create a stronger platform for producers to share experience, respond to changing market expectations, and work together to develop the sector,” he added.
GFP has been supporting the development of cage-free egg production in the Philippines and elsewhere in Asia through producer training, technical assistance, farm transition programs and connections between poultry operators and corporate buyers.
Among its local initiatives is its partnership with Kingmerbi Corporation, which has been transitioning from conventional cages to cage-free production. GFP has provided support in barn retrofitting, flock management, animal welfare practices and market development.
“The launch of the Philippine Cage-Free Association marks an important step for producers as the country’s cage-free market develops,” said J. Signey, GFP Philippine Country Lead and a founding member of the association.
“We look forward to bringing GFP’s experience and expertise together with the knowledge of Philippine producers to provide practical technical support and help build a strong foundation for the sector’s continued growth,” Signey said.
PCFA is inviting cage-free egg producers as well as poultry operators currently transitioning to cage-free systems to join its growing network.
