The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) is inviting Filipinos across the country to celebrate Philippine Space Week 2026 from August 8 to 14 with an exciting lineup of nationwide activities showcasing how space science and technology are helping shape a smarter, safer, and more resilient Philippines.
Established through Proclamation No. 302, s. 2023, Philippine Space Week commemorates the enactment of the Philippine Space Act on August 8, 2019. The annual celebration highlights the growing role of space science, technology, and applications (SSTA) in improving the lives of Filipinos—from disaster resilience and environmental protection to agriculture, national security, and sustainable development.
This year’s theme, “Navigating Tomorrow,” reflects the country’s expanding presence in the global space community through satellite development and the increasing use of space data and services. It embodies the Philippines’ journey toward becoming a more informed, future-ready, and space-enabled nation.
One of the major highlights of the celebration is the Philippine Space Week Exhibit, which will be held on August 9, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM at Quantum Skyview, Gateway Mall 2 in Araneta City, Quezon City. Visitors can experience interactive exhibits showcasing the country’s space capabilities, alongside engaging stage presentations, demonstrations, and public activities designed to inspire space enthusiasts of all ages.
Beyond the exhibit, PhilSA will host a series of forums, training programs, project launches, and partnership activities throughout the week. In collaboration with the European Union, PhilSA will also conduct the Strengthening Interagency Collaboration for Use Case Applications: Lessons from CopPhil Toward PhilSA’s Co-Development Framework forum, which highlights the ongoing National Copernicus Capacity Support Action Programme in the Philippines (CopPhil) and promotes the use of Earth observation data for national development.
PhilSA is also encouraging national government agencies, local government units, schools, private organizations, student groups, and community organizations to organize their own Philippine Space Week activities. Organizations may host exhibits, lectures, webinars, astronomy nights, stargazing sessions, workshops, and other community events that promote the value and impact of space science and technology.
Adding to the excitement are nationwide competitions open to Filipinos of all ages. The GeoGuhit: Move, Map & Make Your Mark challenge combines physical fitness and satellite technology by encouraging participants to create space-inspired artworks through walking, running, or cycling using GPS-enabled devices. Young Filipino students aged 6 to 12 can showcase their creativity through the #YamangKalawakan Poster-Making Contest 2026, themed “Space Garden: Growing Food in Space.”
Meanwhile, aspiring legal minds can participate in the Space Law Essay Writing Contest, which explores the legal frameworks needed to ensure the welfare of future Filipino astronauts as the country prepares for potential human spaceflight initiatives.
Philippine Space Week 2026 offers Filipinos a unique opportunity to discover how space science and technology are driving innovation and national development while inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers, policymakers, and space advocates.
