The Philippines’ young Muay Thai warriors delivered a golden surge at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, clinching four gold medals to bring the country’s total haul to six.
Leading the charge was Lyre Anie Ngina, who dazzled in the girls’ wai kru (14–15) category, followed by Zeth Gabriel Bueno, who took the top spot in the boys’ wai kru (14–15) division. In the team events, the duo of Jan Brix Ramiscal and Tyron Jamborillo impressed judges with their dynamic performance to capture gold in the mixed team mai muay category.
The Philippine contingent also added two silver and one bronze medal to its tally. Ramiscal settled for silver in the boys’ wai kru (16–17) class, alongside Jasmine Dagame, who secured silver in the girls’ wai kru (16–17) division. Meanwhile, Iyeshia Blair Bituin fought her way to a bronze in the girls’ -51kg combat discipline (16–17).
With their outstanding performance, the Filipino muay squad collected a total of six medals — four gold, two silver, and one bronze — marking one of the country’s most successful outings in the sport at the continental youth level.
The Philippine Olympic Committee lauded the athletes for their remarkable discipline and artistry, showcasing the strength of the country’s grassroots martial arts program on the Asian stage.
