PhilHealth warns against scams using Ho’s name

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) warned the public Tuesday against scammers impersonating its acting president and chief executive officer, Beverly Lorraine Ho, to solicit money, donations, and sponsorships.

In an advisory, PhilHealth clarified that neither Ho nor any of its officials and employees is authorized to request financial contributions or personal bank transfers from healthcare providers, partner organizations, or members of the public.

“Any message, call, email, or social media account requesting payments or financial aid under the name of PhilHealth, its officers and employees are fraudulent and part of an illegal scam,” the agency said.

PhilHealth urged the public to remain vigilant against individuals using the names of its executives and personnel to carry out fraudulent transactions.

The agency advised members, healthcare providers, and partner institutions to conduct official transactions and inquiries exclusively through authorized PhilHealth regional and local health insurance offices.

Those who receive suspicious messages, phone calls, or emails were urged not to respond, provide personal information, or transfer money to the senders.

PhilHealth encouraged the public to immediately report suspected scams to the nearest PhilHealth office or its 24-hour Corporate Action Center.

Reports and inquiries may be directed to the hotline (02) 8662-2588 or through email at actioncenter@philhealth.gov.ph.

The agency also provided mobile hotlines for Smart subscribers at 0998-857-2957 and 0968-865-4670, and for Globe subscribers at 0917-127-5987 and 0917-110-9812.

For verified announcements and updates, PhilHealth reminded the public to visit its official website at www.philhealth.gov.ph or follow its authorized social media accounts, PhilHealth Official (@PhilHealthOfficial) on Facebook and @teamphilhealth on X.

The agency reiterated that requests for donations, sponsorships, or financial assistance made using the names of PhilHealth officials should be treated as fraudulent and reported to the proper authorities.
