PANGASINAN – The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. is urging residents to use its Yaman ng Kalusugan Program and Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment program for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of dengue and leptospirosis.
PhilHealth Acting President and CEO Dr. Beverly Lorraine Ho said people showing dengue symptoms or those who have waded through floodwaters should first seek medical consultation through YAKAP.
YAKAP, PhilHealth’s expanded primary care package, covers consultations, laboratory tests and other outpatient services aimed at disease prevention and early detection.
Ho said dengue diagnostic tests may be covered under YAKAP, while doxycycline for leptospirosis prevention is available through the GAMOT program.
Under GAMOT, eligible members may access up to Php 20,000 worth of outpatient medicines annually, subject to PhilHealth rules and prescription from an accredited provider.
PhilHealth also provides inpatient benefit packages for patients who require hospital admission.
Ho said the benefit package for leptospirosis has been increased to more than Php 60,000, while coverage for dengue is around Php 47,000.
PhilHealth encouraged members to consult accredited providers early, especially after flood exposure or at the onset of symptoms, to reduce the risk of complications.
