The rollout of new healthcare initiatives by the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. in Baguio City is expected to improve access to medical services, local health officials said Tuesday.

The city’s Health Services Office said the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program and the Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment are now being introduced in several district health centers.

City Health Officer Celia Flor Brillantes said the programs aim to strengthen basic healthcare delivery and reflect a broader commitment to accessible services for residents.

Five district health centers began implementing the initiatives this week, offering consultations, screening services, laboratory tests and access to essential medicines.

Additional centers are set to follow once accreditation requirements are completed, expanding coverage across the city.

PhilHealth officials said the programs support a more responsive healthcare system by focusing on accessibility and continuity of care.

The Department of Health (DOH) in the Cordillera region said the move would reinforce primary care services, which serve as the first point of contact for patients.

The programs are designed to provide preventive care, diagnostic services and sustained treatment through improved access to medicines at the community level.
