In a thrilling celebration of grit, innovation, and community spirit, HUAWEI joined forces with Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) for The Great Revival: Tour of Luzon, reigniting one of Asia’s most iconic cycling events.
What unfolded over eight days—from the coastal charm of Paoay to the misty heights of Camp John Hay in Baguio—was nothing short of extraordinary.
A triumph of strength and spirit
Kicking off on April 23 and wrapping up on May 1, this 1,074.90-kilometer odyssey brought together 17 cycling teams—13 local, 4 international—who battled it out across seven provinces in Northern and Central Luzon.
At the finish line, the MPT DriveHub Cycling Team claimed ultimate victory, proudly hoisting the Perpetual Trophy and a PHP 1 million cash prize.
“It was a true team effort,” said Mervin Corpuz, star rider of MPT DriveHub. “We poured our hearts into every kilometer, and this win is for all of us.”

Tech that rides with you: HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 series
Fueling the MPT DriveHub team’s performance was the cutting-edge HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Series. Designed for athletes and adventurers alike, this smartwatch played a vital role in helping cyclists stay at peak performance throughout the grueling race.
With real-time tracking of heart rate, speed, cadence, and calories burned, riders were able to fine-tune their effort and pacing stage by stage. “The insights from the WATCH GT 5 helped us manage our energy better,” shared Corpuz.
Thanks to HUAWEI’s TruSense System, the team also benefited from advanced health and fitness monitoring. Meanwhile, the Sunflower Positioning System provided precise GPS navigation through Luzon’s complex terrain. “It kept us on course and let us focus on pushing harder,” Corpuz added.
And in a race where every second and every charge matters, the GT 5’s 14-day battery life made a huge difference. “No interruptions, just performance,” said Corpuz. “It never let us down.”
Innovation that moves communities
This partnership between HUAWEI and MPTC reflects more than just a shared love for sports—it’s a powerful statement about technology’s role in building stronger, healthier communities. The Tour of Luzon served as both a revival of a historic race and a modern movement promoting wellness, athletic excellence, and unity.
Looking ahead, HUAWEI is committed to deepening its engagement with Filipino communities, using innovation to connect, inspire, and empower—from elite athletes to everyday users seeking healthier lives.
