PDEA raids Rizal drug ‘kitchen,’ seizes ephedrine and shabu

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported the dismantling of an alleged illegal drug laboratory in Binangonan, Rizal, on Tuesday night.

The laboratory is believed to be operated by a sophisticated network of foreign nationals and their Filipino associates. The bust happened following the serving of a search warrant at a rented facility in Barangay Macamot.

PDEA spokesperson Atty. Joseph Frederick Calulut described the operation as a follow-up to a separate drug lab raid conducted by authorities the previous month. The facility was characterized as a “kitchen-type laboratory” set up inside a house.

While the agency successfully shut down the operation, Calulut confirmed that the subject named in the search warrant was not present during the raid. He declined to provide details regarding the identities, nationalities, or the total number of suspects being pursued by the agency.

Authorities confiscated a substantial amount of chemicals and controlled substances from the clandestine lab. Seized items included 10 kilograms of suspected ephedrine, 200 grams of a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu (crystal meth), and various other precursors and chemicals, including 10 kilograms each of white and brownish powdered substances, multiple sacks of crystalline and powdered substances, and dozens of plastic containers holding unspecified liquid substances.

The PDEA is preparing to file a case for violation of Section 8 of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Dangerous Drugs Act, against the individual named in the search warrant.
