PCSO steps up relief operations for Cebu Quake Victims

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has intensified relief operations for victims of the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Cebu and nearby provinces Tuesday night.

Following the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., PCSO General Manager Mel Robles ordered branch offices and authorized agent corporations (AACs) to quickly deliver aid to affected communities.

Among the first responders were AACs Piona Trading and Supply Corp. and King Dragon Gaming and Amusement Corporation, which turned over food and essential supplies to the Cebu provincial government on Wednesday. Additional donations have already been shipped, with more on the way.

Relief items include ‘Charitimba’ food packs and evacuation supply kits containing mosquito nets, plastic mats, blankets, slippers, flashlights, pillows, towels, and other essentials, airlifted via C-130 aircraft.

“Our thoughts are with our kababayans in Cebu and the surrounding areas. PCSO is closely monitoring the situation and will extend further assistance to ensure the safety and well-being of those affected,” Robles said.

“We are working tirelessly to bring comfort during these challenging times,” he added, stressing that the spirit of bayanihan is alive in their efforts.

The Office of Civil Defense has reported 63 fatalities and more than 150 injuries from the earthquake. Robles assured that PCSO will continue working with authorities to support ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts.
