DOH sends nearly ₱1M worth of medicines to Quake-Hit Cebu

The Department of Health (DOH) has dispatched ₱933,647 worth of medicines and medical supplies to Cebu, which was struck by a magnitude 6.9 earthquake on Tuesday.

In a statement Wednesday, the DOH said a C-130 aircraft carrying the supplies departed Villamor Air Base for Mactan, Cebu, in coordination with the Office of Civil Defense.

DOH Secretary Teodoro Herbosa said the move was made under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to ensure the continuity of emergency health services in affected areas.

The shipment includes essential medicines, first aid supplies, and other health commodities, adding to the prepositioned stockpiles in DOH Central Visayas.

The agency earlier deployed five Health Emergency Response Teams (HERTs) to Bogo City, while the Philippine Emergency Medical Assistance Team (PEMAT) remains on standby for rapid deployment.
