The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported that 64,342 passengers were monitored at seaports nationwide as of early Sunday morning.
The figure covered passenger movement recorded from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m., according to the PCG.
Of the total, 35,346 were outbound passengers while 28,996 were inbound, the agency said.
The PCG also conducted inspections on 231 vessels and 131 motorbancas during the same period.
Passenger traffic eased from Saturday’s peak, when the PCG logged 138,370 passengers from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The monitoring forms part of heightened holiday operations being implemented at ports nationwide.
From Dec. 20, 2025 until Jan. 4, 2026, all PCG districts, stations, and substations have been placed on heightened alert.
The alert status was imposed in anticipation of increased passenger traffic during the Christmas and New Year season.
During this period, PCG personnel are coordinating with the Department of Transportation, the Philippine Ports Authority, and the Maritime Industry Authority.
The agency said the coordination aims to ensure safety, security, and orderly travel at ports across the country.
