Malacañang said the Marcos administration is ready to work with all newly elected senators, regardless of political affiliation, following the results of the midterm elections.
Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro emphasized the government’s respect for the voters’ decision and expressed hope that the new Senate members will focus on addressing national concerns.
“Ngayon po na naboto na po ang mga susunod na mga lider po natin, umaasa ang Pangulo na ang bawat isa, ang lahat sa kanila na binoto ng sambayanan ay tutugon sa pangangailangan ng taumbayan,” Castro said.
She added that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. welcomes all senators to work with the administration in solving the country’s problems, regardless of political color.
“Ang trabaho po nila ay para sa bayan, para sa taumbayan, hindi para sa iilang interest. So, anumang kulay iyan, wine-welcome ng Pangulo para tugunan kung anuman ang problema at mabigyang solusyon ang pangangailangan ng mga kababayan natin,” she added.
Castro clarified that the administration welcomes legitimate opposition, or those who fight for the public’s welfare. However, she warned against obstructionists who use their position for personal gain or spread misinformation.
“Kapag sinabi nating lehitimong oppositionists, ang pinaglalaban nila ay ang bansa, ang interes ng taumbayan, hindi ang personal na interest. Obstructionists, walang gagawin kundi manira, walang makikitang maganda sa ginagawa ng gobyerno at ang sariling interes lamang ang gustong palaguin,” she said.
Castro assured that the government will not allow these so-called obstructionists to spread false narratives aimed at discrediting the President and his administration.
Based on partial and unofficial results from the Commission on Elections’ transparency servers, at least six senatorial bets from the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas endorsed by Marcos are projected to win Senate seats. These are Erwin Tulfo, Panfilo Lacson, Vicente Sotto III, Pia Cayetano, Lito Lapid, and Camille Villar.
