Pasig opens P3.9-M electric vehicle charging station in Manggahan

The Pasig City Government inaugurated a new public electric vehicle charging station (EVCS) in Barangay Manggahan on Thursday, October 29, 2026, as part of its efforts to promote sustainable transportation and reduce dependence on conventional fuel-powered vehicles.

Located near the Pasig EcoHub along Westbank Road, the facility covers 318 square meters and features four charging pods designed to accommodate electric bicycles, electric tricycles, electric buses, and other electric vehicles.

The charging station draws electricity from the power grid and inverter solar panels, a setup expected to generate savings of up to Php 12,000 in monthly electricity expenses.

The facility also includes an electrical inverter room and two restrooms, one of which is designed to accommodate persons with disabilities and senior citizens.

A rainwater collection system capable of storing between 500 and 1,000 liters of rainwater was also installed to support water conservation efforts.

The project, valued at more than Php 3.9 million, was implemented through the collaboration of the City Engineering Office and the City Transportation Development and Management Office (CTDMO).

Clean Air Asia and Autokid also supported the initiative by donating the four charging pods, with three provided by Clean Air Asia and one by Autokid.

Local government officials, city personnel, and representatives from Barangay Manggahan attended the inauguration, which included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and blessing of the facility.

According to the city government, the charging station will operate daily, from Monday to Sunday, under the management of the CTDMO.

The new facility is part of Pasig City’s efforts to expand electric vehicle infrastructure, encourage the adoption of cleaner transportation alternatives, and support environmentally sustainable urban development.
