Paper Rex Advances to Playoffs After Thrilling Victory Over Team Liquid

Southeast Asian squad Paper Rex (PRX) continues its journey in the VALORANT Masters Toronto after a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Team Liquid in a do-or-die match, securing a spot in the playoffs. The W Gaming squad also completed a reverse sweep against the EMEA team to round out the playoff stage.

In the first map, Split, PRX initially fell behind as Liquid took the pistol, anti-eco, and bonus rounds. However, PRX rallied to win four consecutive rounds, ending the half with an 8-4 lead. Liquid fought back in the second half, forcing overtime after winning four straight rounds. Although PRX managed to tie the game at the end of regulation, Liquid ultimately took the map 15-13 in the second overtime.

On the second map, Sunset, both teams exchanged leads in the first half, but PRX finished strong at 7-5. They maintained their momentum in the second half, dominating Liquid with a 13-5 victory to force a decider.

The final map, Lotus, saw PRX take a commanding 11-1 lead at halftime. Despite a valiant comeback attempt by Liquid, which forced another overtime, PRX held firm to complete the map and series.

With this win, PRX will join fellow VCT Pacific representatives Gen.G and RRQ in the playoff stage, where they will face VCT Americas Stage 1 champions and Masters Bangkok finalists, G2, in the double elimination bracket for the Masters Toronto trophy.
