Pangasinan-Solar Home, Discovery-Rizal Eye win streaks in MPBL Women’s Triple-Header

The 2025 Women’s Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) regular season closes its first round Sunday with a stacked triple-header at Olivarez Gym.

Pangasinan-Solar Home (3-1), riding a three-game win streak capped by an 86-83 triumph over San Juan-DN Steel, faces New Zealand Blufire-Batangas (3-1) at 4 p.m. Head coach PJ Navarro said, “Syempre maganda ‘tong [panalo] para sa amin, medyo malaking morale-booster para sa amin. But again, we cannot be too complacent. New Zealand is still a strong team so we have to play better offense and defense.”

The Suns will rely on Lee Sario, Jhenn Angeles, and Gabi Bade against a battle-tested Valkyries squad led by Snow Peñaranda, Afril Bernardino, and Pringle Fabruada.

At 6 p.m., Discovery-Rizal (2-2) aims to extend its two-game surge versus the Lady Knights (3-1). The Perlas will bank on veterans Allana Lim, Tantoy Ferrer, and Raiza Palmera-Dy, while San Juan counts on guards Chack Cabinbin and Janine Pontejos.

In the 8 p.m. nightcap, cellar-dwellers Tagaytay-Tol (0-4) and RK Hoops-Quezon City (1-3) battle to end their respective losing streaks. The Patriots lean on Angel Quingco, Bernice Paraiso, and Luisa San Juan, while RK Hoops-QC looks to bounce back behind Cara Buendia, Nel Flor, and Melody Cac.
